Appetizers

Hummus and mezze, small or large

Ten appetizers, most of them available as a $6.99 small plate or an $11.99 large. Hummus and chickpeas with tahini are the familiar ones. Babaghanoush, mamaghanoush and mtabbal mashawi are the smoked aubergine family, and they are where the menu gets interesting.

A few of these with a stack of za'atar pies is a proper start to an evening, and it is what to order if someone at the table does not want dessert.

Questions

What is the difference between babaghanoush and mtabbal?

Both are smoked aubergine. Mtabbal is the tahini-and-yoghurt version; babaghanoush is usually chunkier and sharper. Order one of each and taste it.

Are the mezze vegetarian?

Yes.

Do the plates come with bread?

Ask when you order โ€” the Golden Bites pies work well alongside.
