A halal gathering usually solves the main course and then stalls on dessert. Layali caters the sweet end of the evening: trays of Eastern sweets, platters of crepes and waffles cut for sharing, fruit salads built to order, and jugs of fresh juice or mocktails instead of a bar. Platters for a room

Feeding a room dessert is a different problem from feeding one person. Platters solve it: crepes and waffles cut into quarters, sweets trays arranged so people can take one and keep moving, fruit bowls that hold up on a table for an hour. Drinks scale the same way, with jugs of fresh juice or mocktails instead of a bar, which is usually the harder half of a dry event to get right. Every drink we cater is non-alcoholic: juice, mocktails, mojitos, milkshakes and coffee.

Birthdays without a supermarket cake

The default birthday dessert is a cake nobody finishes. The alternative here is the Azaan, a sharing bowl of ice cream, cream, chocolate, Oreo, KitKat, strawberry, banana, mango, kiwi, pineapple, berries, apple, honey and nuts, big enough for a table and considerably more fun to arrive at. For larger groups, crepes and waffles cut into quarters travel well on a platter, and a tray of Eastern sweets covers the people who would rather have something traditional. Showers, engagements, Eid and the rest

Baby showers, engagements and nikah gatherings, graduations, and corporate tables all come through the same form. Trays for Ramadan and Eid are the same sweets in larger numbers, and the earlier you ask the easier a large tray is. The savoury side caters too: a spread of za'atar, cheese and spinach pies and mezze plates for the start of an evening, before the sweets.

Whether we deliver depends on the date and the distance; ask when you enquire. Nothing is booked or charged here; catering is agreed and paid directly. For a large tray the sooner the better, but call and ask, because short notice is sometimes fine.
