Smoothie Freeze · Juices with Milk
The difference between a smoothie shop and a cafe that blends fruit is what goes in the jug. Ours is fruit, ice and nothing that arrives as a powder, which is why a strawberry smoothie here tastes like strawberries rather than sweetener. The fruit is the same fruit that is cut for the fruit salads and pressed for the juices, and it is blended when you order.
Five flavours, blended with ice for a thick, cold finish: Strawberry, Mango, Peach and Pineapple, Mix Berries, and Blue Lemon. There is no dairy in any of them, which makes the Smoothie Freeze the lightest cold drink on the menu and the one to order when you want something clean on a hot afternoon. Ask for no added sugar and it goes in as fruit and ice only.
This is the drink most of the Middle East grew up on and most American menus skip entirely: whole fruit blended with cold milk, thick enough to need a wide straw, without the ice cream that turns it into a dessert. Ordering juice with milk sounds odd in English and is completely ordinary from Beirut to Baghdad. Banana is the classic. Strawberry and Banana, Blueberry and Banana and Mix Fruit follow it. Avocado and Banana is the one to order if you have never had avocado as something sweet: creamy and mild rather than savoury, filling, and completely unlike anything else on the menu. It converts people.
Order the Smoothie Freeze when you want something cold and clean with no dairy. Order the juice with milk when you want it creamy but still drinkable. If you want dessert in a glass, that is the milkshake, which has ice cream in it and its own page. The fresh juices, pressed rather than blended, are on their own page too.
Ask when you order and we will tell you which milk alternatives we have that day. Everything is blended to order, so no added sugar is simply a matter of saying so.
Fresh fruit, cut in the shop. The same fruit goes into the fruit salads and the crepes.
The Smoothie Freeze is blended with ice for a thick, cold finish and has no dairy. Juices with milk are blended with milk instead: softer, creamier, closer to a shake, but with no ice cream.
Creamy and mild rather than savoury, closer to a milkshake than to anything you would put on toast. It is a staple across the Levant for good reason.
Yes. Say so when you order and it goes in as fruit and ice, or fruit and milk, only.
